10 Horror Shots
Phantom Productions OTS Horror
In our OTS we decided to base the sequence around a murder, and the events leading up to it. Our first shot involves the shot of the victim and the killer as he is in pursuit of the victim. The Over-The-Shoulder shot proceeds this shot, showing the audience the killers intent, which is to kill the victim at all costs. The victim then tries to hide behind a tree, we decided to use the sound of a rapid heartbeat to represent the victims panic as he tries to escape the killer, we then used a POV shot of the victim as he turns around to see the killer right behind him. This was an effective shot as it involves the audience as they believe that they are in the same situation which the victim is in. The victim then tries to make a quick getaway but ends up falling over, the second POV shot is then shown, which shows the killer towering over the victim as he slowly walks over to the victim with his weapon of choice in his hand, a knife. The knife is then shown as the killer proceeds to swing the knife down towards the victim, showing the audience that the victim is about to be killed. The screen then cuts to black, bringing suspense and fear to the audience, leaving them to assume what they think has happened to the victim.
The next shot shows that the victim has grabbed the knife and throws it away from the killer and runs away again, as the victim runs away, we see that the killer proceeds to pull the knife out of the ground. the next few shots show the victim as he tries to find yet another safe hiding place, he then decides to make his way into the toilets in order to hide from the killer. During the following sequence, we decided to use another heartbeat sound effect to show that the victim is panicking as there is now no way out of the situation he is in. We then see the killer walk into the room, with an off-kilter shot, showing to the audience that something is wrong. The knife is then dragged across the counter, producing a horrible noise, alerting the victim that the killer is present. The Over-The-Shoulder shot is used again as the killer is opening the doors to the cubicle. The heartbeat effect in the background increases in pace as the victim's fear and panic increases. The 360 degree shot proceeds this and shows that the victim is trapped and has no where else to go, also bringing fear towards the audience.
